I designed this flyer to advertise for a mapathon hosted at UNC Library's Research Hub. A coworker at the Hub organized the event, gathering students to add data to undermapped areas of OpenStreetMap.
This design began in ArcMap. I gathered shapefiles for shorelines, streets and building footprints (all for San Francisco, with the intent of disguising it as a generic city). After some cleaning, I exported the map to Adobe Illustrator where I customized the city - distorting the geography, removing and reshaping buildings and streets, and styling the results. After adding the map markers I finished the design off in Adobe InDesign.
